Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sofia Rei bases her work in traditional South American rhythms such as chacarera, zamba and vidala from Argentina, Afro-Peruvian festejo and lando, Afro-Uruguayan candomblé, Colombian cumbia and bullerengue and other genres that merge with jazz harmonies, electronic sounds and rich improvisations. Singing in Spanish, Portuguese and English, Sofia's voice is as graceful as it is sophisticated, tying together diverse influences in a program full of rhythmic complexity, melody and romance. Her ensemble produces a range of textures as varied as the cultural roots of its members, an international cast that includes some of the most exciting young talent from North and South America. Sofia Rei and her band will play for one night only from her latest album Sube Azul, which presents the rich folkloric traditions of Argentina and it's regional neighbors (Peru, Colombia, Uruguay), tying together diverse influences in a program full of depth and nuance.
About Me
- Kike Posada
- Miami, FL, United States
- The love for music, and the desire to be an informer brought me to the world of entertainment. I have gradually built on a mission that has been goal in life: bringing a critical approach of pop music to the masses. I have an extensive professional experience as a journalist, radio programmer, music critic and concert promoter. My beginnings took place in Bogota as a local radio DJ. Then I became a record label executive. Managed the international market for Universal Music (formerly Polygram) Moving to the US in 1992, I joined EMI-Capitol Records as South East Coast Promoter. But my dream of publishing a magazine, came true in 1996 (BOOM), and have not stopped informing and entertaining. Happily married with 2 kids.
